Plains

Plains extending further than my sight
great expanse of space it fills my mind
you only need to look to the night sky
listening to all the stars that shine

I've been waiting so long just to look inside
Might as well kick fences down on two sides

I long to hear your laughter by my side
in my dreams I'm swimming in your eyes
you always were the apple on the vine
making faces just to share some life

Out of My Way

I'm gonna meet you out there
going out of my way
I'm gonna seek thruth upstairs
by going out of my way
I'm going out of my way

I'm gonna meekly meet you
when I'm on my heels, yes I am
I'm gonna sweetly speak truth
to a stranger friend, a woman
I know I'll rise and greet you
when my time erupts into plans
hop upon your ride and please you
put my heart into trusting hands
come take me home to your romance

In the summer sun I'll see you
soaking up every day
run and shout and I will feel you
breathing in till I'm gray
walking 'round without weight

Breathe Low

breathe low, breathe low
through the hip kids and the blow
through the grit and the grime
remember these thugs were kids one time
and breathe low, breathe in slow

walk down, walk down
the only road in this town
the bars and churches, the rich
and the urchins, they all know
the answers you need you don't
get till you're old

so have heart, to break the day
be the light to make the demons obey
know the steps to dance with
death when it comes, 'cause it
comes for us all in it's good time

The Fall in Morris

let's shake um off us like they're some wet dog
lets run real fast like its from the law
it's time we grabbed the reigns of this whole thing
and it's time we started seeing something for our efforts

let's be huge and stay out of sight
i'll grab what i can and get on my bike
you find my flask we'll talk, i'll hit the bushes
you hit the floor and i'll take the aim off of my heart

hit the Met most every thursday
and stumble home like we're champs
yea we know this whole thing aint gonna last
so we're milking it just like the rest here
we're milking it just like the rest here

Fly On Wall

You want to be a fly on wall
whenever I do find myself indoors
beside you I late long to stand and hold
your hand, and think of times less bold

You want me to come make you food, but
don't make nothing fancy please
You only like your momma's tested basics
so i'll bring apple juice and peas

And you can be what you want you to be
Just one of those girls who laughs and is free

Will you show me what I can do
to make you feel alright and at ease
Will you know me through and through
that I can make you feel at home and dandy
Yeah, but that's alright

Forgive me my unsightly mess
I do not ever mean to cause offense
but when I'm with you I feel brightly luminous
so where can I shine

Got stomachs to feed what do you want
I'll be moving along after you chomp
Remember our long and late night chats
and notes girl, and no there's no good in
looking back

Working Class Fantasy

I've got a working class fantasy
from a too good upbringing
I just want to earn this life, and
don't need nothing that's too nice

They say your grass is always nevergreen
but I can't see what they mean
when it's hard to do what's right for
your own self without a fight

It seems impossible to live simply
off the things that bring me glee
what the hell's happened to life, when
we can't do what makes us shine

The future is so foreign, far away
and yet it's all right here, in the everyday
so what in me prevents this fuzzy leap
of thinking happily? When depression lifts
I'm gonna see my self right, and then
I'll show this life a thing or three

I've got a working class fantasy
from an alright upbringing
I just want to live my life, and
walk around in the sunlight

Never Mine

Forty women all stand in a line
what they're dressed in's what they've got in mind
show me one that makes me feel as fine
(as) when I'm with you and we've got some time

Tell me that you'll always be my - nevermind, I
don't mean to upset (say, and) if you're always
gonna want some other guy, then I don't need you
in this life, (but) if you want to realize look
at your life, and you'll see that you're perfect
now (and forevermore)

Many friends I have where I reside;
Minneapolis, I call her mine
You can tell me you're gonna go find, fine
Where I'm from is where I'm gonna mine

Tell me that you'll always be my - nevermind, I
don't mean to upset (say, and) if you're always
gonna want some other guy, then I don't need you
in this life, (but) if you want to realize look
at your life, and can't you see that you're perfect now
(and you always were)

Missing You

I've been lost and wandered around
before you ever had heard my name
I've been roughed, scraped, scarred with a frown
before you ever had seen my face

Kissing you is such a dream-like state
I can't find my way back to
Missing you was such a grave mistake
I can't believe I made it through
(I'm a fool, and I want you)

When you call I'll pick up the phone
just to hear your voice letting me free
If you come running back to me
I will see that you were meant for me

Tail Spin

It's three o'clock when I arrive
Pull up my hood, and go outside
It's different now, but it's still the same
It's gotten complicated but it's still a game
Baby you should know that I intend to win

You arrive on time and it's ten o'clock
that's according to you as I don't wear a watch
We gotta lotta scars but they barely hurt
We grew into oaks without any dirt
Baby we can keep these bad things going good
(It's a real talent keeping the bad things going good)

I awake - I'm half alive
the sunlight's pressure upon my eyes
You could call it a tail spin
I think of it as a means to an end
If anybody else has another plan
I'm always happy to sit down and listen

Falling

I'm falling out of sync again
I cannot tell you where I'm going to
or where I might up end

With you I'm lost but now am found
you give me reason to be up all
bright and wiping off my frown

I've been around this way before
and I don't need the pain
oppressive forces reign upon my core

My guiding voice is not around
With sleep of reason demons cut and
fight with might upon my crown

I'm falling into love again
it's sweet embrace enraptures comforting
my soul until it's dead

Fall Crunched Steps

You don't dance anymore
I try to avoid the stage
I know that the fall means
taking it slowly and we're alright
We'll be okay

Fall crunched steps through the parking lot
the cigarettes will smoke and drop
We'll go just about as far as we need to go
to get the truth (that's pretty far)

So come sit with me at the edge of the room
Let's have a drink 'cause I don't know
anymore than you know about me

So grow your hair out long
if you think it'll fix what's wrong
We know that when spring comes
we'll have to go, but that's alright
Can't take it along

North Dakota

Lights turn down on North Dakota
and I lean into the wind and I'm awed
by all these days I didn't know what to do
Late at night I lie in my bed, troubled
thoughts, they pass through my head
but I am free

I know I will be fine, all these images
melt from my mind, drove out deep
to the woods in my car and a wave
of something came, hit me hard

I knew it's okay, all these promises
I have to break; I know I won't mind
these lost miles that I've now got to find
It's all called keeping on

Ignore the evil I know that you've seen
come along and be careless with me
Drive these roads and I'll do my best to get lost
Don't deny the demons have come
use the strength from the battles you've won
Though it kills

Let's Talk

Let's talk about roads, babe, as we roll down the 55
dreaming up futures and heavens in the sky
you know I'll be waiting, unwavering for you
so go get to work now, and meet me when you're through
(oh, when you're through)

So go make a good wage, and walk the balanced line
of freedom and torture, and bosses' rolling eyes
You know I'll be making a way for me and you
to love one another by painting towns a blue
(your town's so blue)

They offer Chicago and you don't wanna take it
Well money these days it's like a clue
You roll down to Boulder and you don't wanna fake it
Well honey I'll make it some day soon

Let's walk outta movies and make for the river's side
the city in Autumn, with your hand tucked in mine
let's grow into Maples right here beneath the blue
and live a good life kickin' back and peepin' views
(look at that view)

And if you fall I Will be here, right near beside you
'cause I would live my life for you
and if you call me love I'll move a little closer
even if you think I'm a fool

These Days

These days I've been tired of being alone
when you fall out, I'll take you out my phone
I don't need anymore dandruff than I've got

Come May I will hit the road with friends
ever watchful for fated mates of kin
I know I can recognize each of your grins

I am justified in all that I've become
I will not provide what you've got locked inside
so grab a cup and dive to the darkest depths of you
and thank sweet goodness you can find a light at
the end of the chute your mind can only hope to
abuse

Each day I wake you could call a date
even if I sit inside and play
I know I will get along, days are just days

michael

she just walked out the door
she won't be coming back
i want you to watch as she's walking
and make note of every step

i know it hurts now
more than ever before
but if you dont take the time to remember
the lessons youve learned will be lost

alone there you stand in the gray, and the flickering waves
you loved her with all that you had, and she still went away

don't shut down
don't fade away
or put your heart away high up on a mantle
michael don't let your heart fade away

she just walked out the door
she wont be coming back
your life has just gained new direction
stand back and witness the birth

alone there you stand in the gray, and the flickering waves
you loved her with all that you had, and she still went away

don't shut down
don't fade away
or put your heart away high on a mantle
michael don't let your heart fade away

back around

i heard you've had a rough few days
nothing's turning out okay
and when you're lost amongst the pain
i will help you find your way

don't walk around
with your heart out on your sleeve
moping around
like that for anyone to see

give me your hand and i'll empathize with you
hear your stories from their start to the way through
don't pull no punches, don't you water your words down
'cause i've been there and i've seen it and i know that things will turn
back around

while it seems nothing goes your way
let's not focus on the pain
you're really doing quite okay
let's just take things day by day

give me your hand and i'll empathize with you
hear your stories from their start to the way through
don't pull no punches, don't you water your words down
cause i've been there and i feel it and i know that things will turn
back around

autumn

the pupils of the eyes
the students of the face
the black bird dies
and again i'm alone and find
i'll be alright

i dont mind if you lie
it's okay if you make me cry

fall red brown hills
the cold wind kills
to the breath's bottom
here the love, here the autumn
i'll be alright

i dont mind if you lie
it's okay if you make me cry
swallowing pride is never pleasing
but when done with heart it finishes easy
